Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome one and all to our weekly round-up of
happenings in the Provy 3 league, from our perspective. Our perspective this
week was a rather soggy and abbreviated one. It started raining on Thursday
and, by Saturday lunchtime, had just about ruined any plans we had of
playing football. Larpent looked a sad and sorry mess, and the more level
headed souls amongst us thought the most sensible decision would have been
to call both games off. But no, our referee for the reserves game "Squelch"
Muddly, thought it would be good fun to get a game going. It didn't seem to
occur to him that 90 minutes of "mud-ball" would ruin a pitch for goodness
knows how long. Commonsense and referees tend not to go well in the same
            sentence.

Anyway, with reason out of the window, and players out of the door, the
reserves were first up to see if they could play some semblance of football.
At this juncture, I'll have to come clean, which is more than I can say for
the players ... I wasn't there. Well I was for the first 5 minutes and did
see the first goal, a superb looping header into the far corner from Theo.
For the rest of the match details we have to thank our roving reporter
"Snap" Weston and this is how the game panned out ....

Team news - Kon and Peter Kav missing (away on hols), Dan (moving house,
well contents anyway), Muzz and Prashan promoted and Sean W injured (sooky,
            sooky, la, la)
In came Darren and Avish from the U18s, and Bill O. Yure, Dean and Pete S
            back in.

            1 minute ... Early shot
3 ... THEO ... GOAL yeah!! Header - see above
12 ... Ozzie goal disallowed ?? Uruguayan ref?
13 ... DEAN ... GOAL yeah, again!!! Shot - no idea of detail
            24 ... corner/head/shot over..
25 to 40 ... lots of other stuff including Keysie hitting bar
41 ... THEO ... GOAL solid!!! Another shot.
43 ... Ozzie shot too high.

Half time ... 3-0 to us

51 ... Goal to them ... offside by miles, any arguing?
56 ... Ozzie rounded keeper, angled shot ..... missed. Not his day, by the
            sounds of it.
57 to 63 ... More corners and stuff
64 ... Stevie Wong long shot hits bar ... whoosh, then splat.
67 ... A cross from Yure met by Sam, who shoots and ..... misses.
68 ... DEAN ... GOAL another shot. Good stuff
            73 .. Arrive at airport
75 ... Sam had a run, nothing new there
76 ... YURE ... GOAL marks return with a goal.
77 to end ... GW pressure, solid, close out game ... win 5-1

Good effort boys under trying conditions. Virgin Blue were proud of you.
Hope the Weston's washing machine is still working.

As for the seniors? The referee for the main game, took pity on the poor
souls who had the job of washing the kit and decided to call the game off.
The pitch had taken a battering, so a rest from the elements would do it no
harm at all. So we'll keep you posted on when the replay will be, but we may
have the exciting prospect of playing on a synthetic surface under lights.
Until then we'll bid you farewell, see you next week.
