Round 22 v Keysborough (away)

Venue - Coomoora Reserve.
Pitch - Intermittent grass, bare patches, but better than we've got
Weather - Not bad really
Canteen - OK, but too many celebrating locals
Crowd - massive

Reserves
Result ... Won 2-0
Scorers ... Chris Martin (27, 42)

So the final scheduled game of the season for the reserves promised much and
delivered plenty. With
Ozzie on first team duties, we managed to find a more than capable deputy.
Christian Martin gave
everyone a glimpse of the potential and talent he possesses. With 2
exquisite finishes he put the
game out of reach of the home side before halftime.

The only thing that left most of the watching supporters wondering was how
the score stayed at
only 2-0. There were so many chances made and squandered. The home side just
weren't good
enough to make the lads pay. In fact they were as fragile as their clubroom
window which Muzz managed to smash with what was, quite possibly, the worst
penalty ever taken.

A great finish to the season proper.
A champion team or a team of champions?

Seniors
Result ... Lost 1-2
Scorers ... Stevie W (72)

Keysborough had laid out the red carpet for us as they were expecting us to
be the supporting act in
their title winning match. Seaford had promised us free food and drink all
night if we managed to even get a point. We weren't fussed about that,
because we had our own survival needs to think of first.

What a challenge the lads put up. It took Keysie by surprise as they thought
we'd lie down and roll over. Not so. The home side took the lead against the
run of play just before half-time, but Stevie Wong hit another screamer to
put us on level terms. This shook them up and it took them until the 85th
minute to get back in front.

Johnny hit the post with the last kick of the game and that just about
summed up our season right there. So close, yet so far.

Keysborough finished the game as champions, with Seaford runner's up.
Congratulations to both
teams and good luck next season in Provy 2.
